Testnet Tokens
What are Testnet Tokens?
The Cipherem testnet is a separate network from the mainnet, although it has equivalent functionalities, including the presence of a CIP
token along with ERC20 tokens.
The Cipherem testnet will undergo frequent updates and iterations before mainnet releases. Testnet wallet balances and smart contract balances can be reset or wiped out at any time, test tokens do not hold any real value
.
Why use Testnet Tokens?
Testing dApp functionalities on the Cipherem testnet consumes CIP tokens, allowing you to identify and fix errors before deploying to the mainnet. The Cipherem mainnet handles real-value transactions with tokens that have actual value.
Developing or testing contracts directly on the mainnet incurs gas fees for each transaction and risks significant monetary loss due to bugs or mistakes.
Therefore, blockchain developers are advised to use the Cipherem testnet for development. This environment enables the deployment of dApps to a production-like network where the tokens do not possess real value.
It's important to note that testnet CIP tokens are not tradable on exchanges, serving exclusively as a valuable tool for development and testing.
From faucet
The way to obtain test CIP tokens for users that may need them for different purposes, other than developing, is to request them on the Cipherem web faucet:

- Connect to Network: Cipherem Testnet
The Cipherem team provides this faucet: if you like our project, please follow cipherem on Github.
